Lunar New Year Celebration
Honoring Adoptee Families and
Scholarship Presentation
Charlotte Korean Association
President Sara Nam,
Distinguished guests,
Dear adoptees and their families,
and members of the Korean American community,
Good morning!
My name is Kihwan Kim,
and I am the President of
the Federation of Korean Associations of the Southeast USA.
As we celebrate the Lunar New Year,
I would like to sincerely
thank the Charlotte Korean Association
especially President Sara Nam and all the volunteers
for organizing this meaningful event for
adoptees and their families.
Through today’s gathering,
you have shared the warmth of Korea,
the feeling of home,
and the beauty of Korean traditions
with those reconnecting with their roots.
Today is more than just a holiday celebration.
It is a special moment
that brings people together,
honors identity and belonging,
and reminds us of the strong bond
between Korea and adoptees and their families.
The care and love shown
through the food and the program
truly reflect the heart of the Korean community.
I would like to express my deep respect and
gratitude to President Nam and
the leadership of the Charlotte Korean Association
for their dedication and service.
The Federation of Korean Associations of the Southeast USA
will continue to work closely with
local Korean associations
to support adoptees and their families and
to strengthen our shared community.
Finally, I hope today’s scholarship presentation will
serve as a meaningful message of encouragement and
hope for the next generation.
Thank you,
President Sara Nam and
The Charlotte Korean Association
prepared delicious tteokguk for you today.
In Korea, we eat tteokguk on New Year’s Day.
It means a fresh start and
becoming one year older and wiser.
I hope this bowl brings you good health and happiness.
Please enjoy.
